Play Therapy

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is generally employed with children aged 3 through 11 and provides a way for them to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process. Children’s experiences and knowledge are most often communicated through play. It is an important vehicle for them to know and accept themselves as well as others.

A safe, confidential, and caring environment is created which allows the child to play with as few limits as possible but as many as necessary (for physical and emotional safety). This allows healing to occur on many levels following our natural inner trend towards health. Play and creativity operate on impulses from outside our awareness - the unconscious. No medication is used.

Is Play Therapy right for my child?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are they losing productivity at home or at work because of symptoms of anxiety?

  • Are they still feeling depressed or lonely, despite the practice of positive thinking?

  • Are they angry all the time, and don't know why?

  • Are you frustrated that their "true character" is buried by hair-trigger, out of control emotions?

  • Have phobias limited their life, despite your best efforts to overcome them?

  • Have they tried therapy before, but are wrestling with the same old problems?

  • Have they tried cognitive therapies only to find their emotions still ruling their life?

  • Would you like them to be able to calm the chaos of self-defeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors?

  • Do you want to get to the root cause of chronic symptoms?

  • Do you want to reduce stress and its negative impact on their physical health?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, Play Therapy may be a great option for your child.
